We have heard of this too, and again this is not statutory. Your Michigan process server should be only charging one attempt fee for each unique address that they try to serve your documents at.
Absolutely not! Most if not all of the courts in Michigan require at least 3 attempts: a morning, night, and a weekend attempt. These attempts show the court that we have made the required effort to serve the documents to your defendant.
Well how long is a piece of string? Again, every set of documents are different and unique, and we cannot put silly time constraints on them. Rest assured that every attempt will be exhausted when we try to serve your documents.
Our office can set up a e-mail alert, notifying you when your documents have been served, or we can provide you a user login to our secure portal, so you can check there as well. You can also call our office and talk one on one with our friendly case managers for status updates.
Yes, this is a thing! On most set of documents a picture can be taken with each attempt. Also, a picture can be taken if and when your defendant was served. Give us a call and ask one of our friendly case managers today about this service.
Depending on the type of documents, you can ask the court for more time to try to get your defendant served. You can also ask the court if we can perfect service by alternate means.
If your type of document has a case number, we might be able to help you find your defendant. This process is called skip tracing, and a licensed Michigan investigator can legally search for your defendant . Ask one of our friendly case managers today about this service.
All of our Michigan process servers have been vetted and take classes on process serving. With Geo-tagged pictures we can prove that your defendant was not only served, but when and where as well. If Geo-tagged pictures are not an option when the process server is out in the field, we can also use GPS to pinpoint the location of service. If your defendant asks a judge for a hearing, we can and will be standing firm in your corner to exemplify the fact that the service of process was perfected.
